Monday Night Dream Analysis

Tue, Feb 9, 2010

random stuff

This morning I woke up and remembered that I had the most bizarre dream. It wasn’t as good as my beastmaster dream, but it was close. I made sure to tell my husband about it right away so I wouldn’t forget it.

What does this dream mean?

I was in Ithaca at my father’s house and I got a phone call on my cell. When I answered it, it was this woman who was calling about a job, I could barely hear her because Ithaca is kind of hilly and has bad cell phone reception, so I walked all over the place trying to get a good signal. Then all of the sudden I was having lunch in a cafeteria-like place with her, a couple of my high school friends, and DURAN DURAN. And man, they looked really good in cafeteria lighting. That was weird enough, but they were working on a latch hook rug kit of the Dukes of Hazzard car. Yeah, Bo and Luke Duke’s car, The General Lee.

So, I’m sitting there having a lunch interview with the job lady while my high school friends are having another conversation and Duran Duran is putting together a rug hanging of The General Lee at the other end of the table. Only in a dream, right?

I got up to go and get more food and when I got back, everyone was gone. The only thing left on the table was the not quite finished General Lee rug hanging.

I have no idea what this dream is trying to tell me.

It is telling you that you need to finish the latch hook rug hanging, because that’s what Duran Duran would have wanted.
    Clearly.

I agree with ~ifer the only reasonable thing to do is finish the rug hanging. Please don’t disappoint Duran Duran.

I like to gestalt my dreams. You are really the only one who knows the unique meanings you put on each of these symbols.
One step is to “be” each thing in the dream.
For instance say to your self, “I” statements. I am my father’s house. I am here…(doing or being what).
Keep talking, making statements as if you are that thing or person and listen to what you are saying. Be each person and item this way. It will help bring up out of your subconscious what these things mean to you. I believe a dream is us talking to ourselves in our own personal code.
    Have fun.

I do some dream analysis. After I get dinner for the kids, I’ll be back to check it out.

PS, there is something for you on my blog!

    stabbing in the dark here:

You are struggling with feeling at peace in a grown up world. You are at your parent’s house while trying to listen to the possible job contact. Its fuzzy, its not clear. Then you take the steps to have this adult interview and its clouded by the loud cafeteria the distractions of high school friends, high school paraphenalia. You feel you can’t hide what you think is your immaturity from the professional world you are trying to be a part of.

Keep in mind that I’ve been reading your blog for just a few weeks now, so without knowing much about you this is just one dream analysis opinion without professional merit. :)

I have a few dream dictionaries and used to analyze my dreams all the time.

I agree with the first few commenters… Duran Duran… haha.

This is my first time on your site, and I’ll have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this introduction. Dreams are informative and entertaining.
What is it with Duran Duran? What are they a subconscious/unconscious symbol of? I had a dream once that I got in a dinghy with Duran Duran and Fergie and we set off for the county fair.
Well, if you figure out what the dream means, please let us readers know… :)

Thanks for all the analysis. I love reading them. And I think they are scarily accurate.
